Incorporated in Hyderabad, India

Commenced operations in Unit I (Hyderabad) as provider of Medicinal Chemistry services to US biotechs

2002

Opened R&D laboratories (Unit II) at IKP Knowledge Park, Hyderabad

2004

Added GMP capacity at Unit I (Hyderabad)

Acquired manufacturing capacity at IDA Bollarum, India (Unit III) and Bidar, India (Unit IV)

2006

Received investment from Advantium LLC

Commenced Medicinal Chemistry operations at Pune, India (Unit V)

2007

Sequoia Capital came onboard as venture investor

2008

Successful USFDA inspection at Unit I, LB Nagar, Hyderabad

MPM Capital came onboard as venture investor

2009

Successful USFDA inspection at Unit IV, Bidar (GMP manufacturing site)

Established DMPK services in Pune

2011

Received AAALAC accreditation for Animal facility

2012

Made strategic pivot to CMC services; expanded process R&D and analytical R&D capacity at Unit II

2013

Successful USFDA inspections at Unit IV and Unit-1

Commissioned specialised capabilities & additional capacity with production Blocks 5 and 6 at Unit IV

2014

TATA Capital and HBM Healthcare Investments came onboard as private equity partners

2015–2017

Units I, II, IV, and V clear USFDA audits; Unit IV clears PMDA audit

2017

Production Block 7 with 130 KL capacity commenced operations

2018

TPG Capital joined as private equity partner

Made foray into Biology services

2019

Launched SaiNxt, an organization transformation initiative with US$150M investment commitment over a 4-year period

International expansion: Set-up labs in Manchester, UK and Greater Boston, USA

New intermediate production block 8 commenced operations at Bidar (Unit-IV); consolidated Unit-1 operations into Unit IV.

2020

Became the first India-based company to join the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative (PSCI)

Opened new 83,000 sq. ft. Research & Technology facility at Hyderabad R&D Campus (Unit II)

Released company’s first Sustainability Report.

2021

Opened new discovery biology block at Unit II (Hyderabad)

2022

Consolidated Unit V operations in Hyderabad creating a full-integrated Discovery to Development site.

Opened dedicated Hi-Potent block

Doubled DMPK capacity and Vivarium

Inked strategic agreement with Schrödinger’s to set up their first dedicated offshore research laboratories in India

Set-up GMP kilo lab at Manchester site

Founded in 1999 as Sai Dru Syn Laboratories, the company later adopted the name Sai Life Sciences to reflect a broader life sciences focus.
